Method 1 – Using the iOS 17 beta profile
Follow the steps below to update your iPhone to iOS 17.2 beta.
- Uninstall your old profile (if you have one)
- Go to Apple’s Official website and download the iOS 17 Beta Profile (at the homepage, click on the “Developer” tab, and you will see the previous beta profiles)
- Install new Profile
- Restart your phone
- Wait a minute (1-2 minutes)
- Check the update (it will show iOS 17.4 Beta)
If the beta profile is removed when the iPhone restarted, here’s how to fix it:
- Turn off Automatic Updates.
- Download the profile and restart your iPhone.
- Checking for updates.
- Waiting 2 minutes and checking again for updates.
After that, you can select the iOS 17 Developer beta, although the profile has been removed. If not, please refer to the second method below.
Using Apple Configurator:
- Download Apple Configurator from the Mac App Store.
- Connect your device to your Mac with the cable that came with your device.
- In Apple Configurator, select your device in the device window.
- Drag the .ipsw file onto the device image, and choose Update.
- After installing the beta, your device will reboot and require a network connection to complete activation.

The iOS 17.4 beta adds new emoji characters that include lime, an edible brown mushroom, a phoenix, a broken chain, shaking head vertically (as in a “yes” nod), and shaking head horizontally (a “no” head shake). These emoji are part of the Unicode 15.1 update that was approved in September 2023
